Number of fatality increase of road traffic accident in 2008

There was 1638 persons killed by road traffic accident on the road of Cambodia in 2008. This number are increase if compare to the year 2007 that there was only 1545.
Speeding was the main cause of road traffic accident and kill human life. Based on Road Traffic Accident and Victim Information System showed that vehicle the most involved to road traffic accident is motorbike, killed 1107 people, 5600 get serious injury and 12469 are slight injury.

Based on the research on helmet wearing in February 2009 of Handicap International Belgium showed that the helmet wearing rate to the driver have only 56% and the passenger have only 11%. Helmet is a crucial safety material to protect the serious injury on the head in cased of road traffic accident. The same research showed that the enforcement of the traffic police is in fluent on helmet wearing of the motor bike user.

To reduce road traffic accident, all road users must respect the road traffic land law and new regulation of the government.
