A local authority has offered driving courses for newly qualified drivers, to try to reduce the risk of them being involved in a crash.

Cheshire West and Chester Council has arranged the courses for young people aged 17 to 25 living in the area.

The sessions will be held in Ellesmere Port and Winsford at the end of June.

The young people will learn how to drive in all weather conditions, as well as on Cheshire's motorways and rural roads, the council said.

Anna Geroni, the council's road safety and sustainable travel manager, said the authority decided to arrange the courses because new drivers are more likely to have a crash in the first two years of passing their test than at any other time.
